Friends of the Portsmouth Juvenile Court works with
judges and juvenile probation officers to help children,
teenagers and families who come before the Court.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)

A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a trained volunteer,
appointed by a judge to advocate for an abused or neglected child.
CASA volunteers provide an independent assessment of the child's
circumstances for the judge. For many children, their CASA is the only
friendly face they see as they move through the legal and social services bureaucracies

Community Service Program (CSP)

Nothing teaches accountability like hard work and structure.

Young people who make poor decisions that land them in court may be
sentenced to perform community service. They make restitution by giving
back to the community with their time and labor. The Community Service
Program coordinator oversees this process for the Court.

Transportation Motivating Change (TMC)

When a young person is incarcerated the entire family is affected.
Re-building and maintaining positive relationships is critical. However,
the expense of traveling to a correctional facility prevents some families
from visiting their children. Transportation Motivating Change (TMC)
provides transportation to juvenile correctional facilities to help families
repair broken relationships.
